What is the Role of a Supervisor?
Supervision is an opportunity to bring someone back to their own mind, to show them how good they can be. ~ Nancy Kline.

As a supervisor, you must:

• Know other people’s values and every employee’s dignity and worth.

• Be a good listener and provide feedback to your employees about their work.

• Understand different types of socialising people exhibit in the workplace.

• Encourage innovation and quality work.

For your staff, you must ensure:

Workplace Safety:

Monitor workplace to identify an unsafe and/or unhealthy environment.
Provide training for workers, especially those who work with machines, chemicals, electricity, etc. and inform and educate them on the potential dangers.

Productivity:

Assign tasks to the right workers. As a leader you know the different skills of each employee in your team and should be able to apply those to maintain productivity.

Development:

Develop training plans with your employees to help them with more skills than just those that are required for work.

Be a Peacemaker:

Assist workers to get to know each other and help solve the conflicts that arise.
