The Bright Side of Life

https://www.stafftraining.co.za/blog/the-bright-side-of-life

I want you to listen to the way people speak to each other. Notice the things the say...

I'd bet my bottom dollar that in just about every office there's someone saying, "Ugh, it's too hot" or "Geez my chair is uncomfortable" or something very, very similar.

If you had to listen to the people around you and categorise the things they said into good comments - like "I'm feeling great!" or "What a beautiful day!" - and bad comments - like "I'm so overworked" or "My feet ache so badly" - you'll probably find most people complain a heck of a lot more than not.

But why is it that we take such a negative view on life? Why do we focus so intently on the bad stuff when there's so much more out there?

Constantly thinking these negative things puts you in a negative frame of mind, which, for obvious reasons, is not where we want to be.

My mother used to tell me (and she sometimes still does) that if I've got nothing nice to say I shouldn't say anything at all, and (when I can remember this) it makes me a happier person.

People react better to a positive energy. The incessant nitpicking that we hear all the time only serves to sap away our energy, making us all dull, moody and unhappy.

Notice the good for a change. Look on the bright side of life. Be happy.

Oh dear, I've just realised I'm complaining about people complaining, I've become one of them!
