The hustle and bustle that surrounds us can make us feel like we have a big red target on our backs and life is not just giving you lemons, but throwing them from all sides…. The question is how do you make lemonade and avoid getting knocked out?
You might not realise this but productivity is not just luck of the draw
…In fact you are human, so you can expect good days and bad days, that’s life. The beauty lies in the fact that the key to overall increased productivity lies in your hands
So what are the key building blocks you can include in your daily routine to ensure you get things done?
1. To-do lists
Yes, the good old To-do list. Don’t let the day run away with you, this can leave you feeling over-whelmed and stressed. Making a list helps you to prioritise and manage your time
, productivity is all about intent!
2. Break down of projects into steps
When you are facing a big project it can feel like you are trying to hike up Table Mountain with a wildcat chomping at your heels. That’s not productive at all… you’re most probably causing yourself more stress than needed, your head’s all over the place trying to figure things out and this can lead to mistakes. Mistakes cost time and money
Break things down, it’s much easier hopping over small mole-hills- and less stressful!
Breaking things down into smaller steps helps you visualise
what needs to be done and therefore you can pro-actively take on the project, one mole-hill- I mean step- at a time!
3. Get organized
There’s nothing that messes with your productivity like a messy work-area. So de-clutter your desk, this will in a way de-clutter your mind.
You can even organise your desktop on your computer, use file-binders, folders and to-do list (as mentioned above) to help you stay organised.
That way you know where everything is, you know where to look when you need to find something, saving time and preventing stress and frustration levels
from creeping in… a.k.a you’ll be super productive!
“Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent and focused effort”
It’s easy to think that being busy means you’re being productive, when in fact it’s quite easy to be busy and not get a lot done at all… It’s a matter of making sure you run the day – don’t let the day run you!
