Have you given any thought to the power your morning routine holds? The way we start our day can have a huge impact on how the rest of the day unfolds...
There is one habit that I would like to talk about specifically. Something that can form a valuable part of your morning routine-
And that is the habit of setting your intentions for the day.
Why should we set our intentions? Because it helps us focus our attention to our goals, it helps us achieve what is meaningful to us and helps us achieve greater resilience towards any obstacles that may arise.
According to the lifepurposeinstitute.com, setting daily intentions allows us to align our goals and vison with our daily routine.
An excerpt from an article they posted in 2021 reads: "By focusing on your daily intentions, you will find that you are more open to what life brings you, more positive and more focused. These benefits will allow you to get closer to your goals no matter what they may be"
So how do we set our intentions?
First, ask yourself what you intend to focus on today. Some examples could be:
- I want to be productive at work
- I will be kind to myself
- I will breathe and not let stress rule my day
- I intend to do my best today
- I will look for the positive in any negative situation
- I will not stress about what I cannot control
- I want to complete X number of tasks on my to-do list before the end of the day
Your intentions should be things that resonate with you and your vision for the day... Or even week, month or year ahead.
You could do this in whatever way works for you. For instance, some people may do this by meditating, while others might prefer writing it down... You could even create a mantra or say your intentions out loud to yourself in the mirror.
I think we all know what it feels like to start the day on 'the wrong foot', not to mention how it can make the entire day feel so very challenging!
So, why not make the decision to start every morning on a positive note, with purpose and intent?
There is nothing to lose and so much to gain... Will you be giving it a try?
