Emotional Intelligence, or EQ, takes into account elements such as behaviour, social interaction and inter-personal relationships, which provide a clearer insight into how successful an individual might be compared to the traditional IQ test.
Take for example an individual who, while academically brilliant, lacks the social skills to work as part of a team, manage a group of people, or clearly communicate their ideas to their co-workers.
It stands to reason that this person might then experience worse results than someone perhaps not quite as clever, simply because the other person's social skills have made the task at hand easier to manage.
While still a relatively new concept, Emotional Intelligence is quickly being realised as a key element in the formula of success and a defining characteristic of the most successful people around the world.
