On the contrary, the HR department is extremely important for every staff member in the company.
HR is often responsible for, among others:
Hiring and staffing
Identifying individual skills needs and implementing training
Handling compensation and benefits
Labour and employee relations
Employee health and safety
Organisational development planning
Policy and procedure development
What this means is that one of the main functions of the HR department is to guide and manage the company's workforce (or the company's human resources) to achieve higher productivity, higher staff retention and a more harmonious work environment.
Unfortunately this also means HR employees are caught in the balancing act of trying to achieve what is in the best interest of both manager and employee - often to the detriment of their image among employees.
It is worth remembering that HR is there for the benefit of the company as a whole and that their job of guiding and managing the workforce is not an easy one.
