The Way Forward

https://www.stafftraining.co.za/blog/the-way-forward

My hat off to you! You did locate the label giving you the price of the product in your hand. If you didn't, you stood up on your hind legs and complained to the right person.

Not only did you stand around for half an hour while various people ran around in circles in an endeavour to locate the correct person to take your complaint, you stood your ground and told the grim faced person whose job it is to manage that retail outlet.

He apologised half-heartedly, blinked and called a happy hello to someone walking past. What are the chances he would follow-up on your complaint? The only way you are likely to know if your effort paid off is when you return (if you return) to that store and find the product clearly labelled.

Well, I have to admit that I took my own advice and complained about the lack of clear pricing. The manager wasn't particularly interested and I didn't hold out much hope. I was tempted to tuck my tail between my legs and hive off to a different store when next I went grocery shopping.

Imagine my surprise when I received a call on my cell from the regional office of the offending shop during which the warm and friendly person asked if I would give them my address in order to deliver a box of the unpriced cornflakes as way of an apology for poor service. Did I believe her and give up my address immediately. Not likely! I'm South African and you don't hand out your details without verifying to whom you are speaking. Right? Right! Of course I didn't. I fell over myself to match her friendliness with my own brand of friendliness and handed over my details with a big fat smile all over my face!

So you will be relieved to know alls well that ends well. I received a huge box of cornflakes together with a letter of apology.

Well, hat off to me. I had my cynicism challenged and had the smug feeling that I had somehow made a difference. So was the product priced when next I visited their establishment? Well, what do you think????
