We all know the feeling… You've just had one of the most relaxing weekends in a long time when suddenly it hits you: there are only a few hours left until you've got to be back at work. Bummer!
And now that you've remembered that you also start to remember the report that you need to submit first thing, the meeting you have to attend and the dozen emails awaiting your reply and…poof…there goes any hope of enjoying the last little bit of your weekend.
Unfortunately this negative outlook only helps set you up for a bad Monday. By focussing on all the things you're dreading you end up going to work already expecting it to be a tough day, and then it usually is.
Had you instead focused on how you could make your Monday the most productive start to your week, and only considered the positive outcomes a Monday could bring, you would most likely end up actually having a much more productive and positive Monday than usual (and not have ruined your Sunday either).
Seeing Monday as an opportunity to get the week started on the right foot can make all the difference in the world. Go on, give it a try.
