Report Writing with AI Integration

1 day SETA options available

What is this course about?

This practical course gives learners a clear process for planning, structuring, writing and refining professional business reports and proposals. Learners work through the report-writing process from clarifying the brief and understanding the reader through to drafting, formatting, proofreading and final review, while using AI at selected points as a support tool for comparison, feedback, editing and drafting. The focus remains on the learner's own judgement: AI can assist the process, but the writer remains responsible for accuracy, relevance, tone, confidentiality and the final report.

Key content covered

Start With the Brief
Before writing, establish why the report is needed, who will read it, what it must contain and what outcome it should achieve. Learners build a reusable brief that can guide both their own writing and any AI assistance they choose to use.
Topics include
• Clarifying the purpose, reader and required information
• Identifying whether the report informs, argues, persuades or evaluates
• Building a reusable AI Master Brief

Know Your Reader and Plan the Report
A strong report is shaped around the person who needs to read it. Learners consider different reader needs, organise ideas and build a practical report outline before moving into the writing itself.
Topics include
• Adapting information to different reader needs
• Generating and grouping ideas through mind mapping
• Building a report structure: introduction, discussion, conclusion, recommendations/action and supporting information

Write for Impact and Clarity
Learners develop the key parts of a report using practical structures and writing techniques. The focus is on making information readable, purposeful and relevant rather than simply making it sound formal.
Topics include
• Writing an introduction using AIDA
• Developing the discussion and conclusion from the evidence and evaluation
• Using appropriate tone, active voice and plain English

Use AI to Support the Writing Process AI is introduced as a practical support rather than a replacement for the writer. Learners compare their own thinking with AI-generated drafts, use AI to test how a reader may react, and explore how AI can assist with editing and refinement.
Topics include
• Comparing personal drafts with AI-generated content
• Using AI for reader reaction, tone rewriting and plain-English editing
• Identifying where AI output is generic, incomplete or contextually weak

Review, Refine and Take Responsibility
A professional report needs more than good wording. Learners apply a final review process that checks structure, relevance, clarity, bias and factual accuracy, while considering confidentiality and their organisation's rules for using AI.
Topics include
• Proofreading and reviewing reports against practical quality criteria
• Checking AI-supported content for accuracy, bias, relevance and meaning
• Using AI responsibly while retaining human judgement and accountability

Run Report Writing with AI Integration for your team

Every workshop we publish is also delivered in-house — at your premises anywhere in South Africa and beyond, at one of our venues, or live online. Before we deliver, our course designers can adapt Report Writing with AI Integration to your team: your industry’s examples in the case work, your real challenges in the exercises, your operational rhythm in the schedule. We meet you, agree the outline together, and only then do you place the order.

In-house rates drop per delegate as the group grows — for larger teams it is usually the more affordable option as well as the better-fitting one.
