Window Watching

https://www.stafftraining.co.za/blog/window-watching

This is why you shouldn't feel so bad about zoning out at work.

If you're like me you feel guilty when you catch yourself gazing out the window or zoning out at a random wall (we're at work, after all), but apparently it might not be such a bad thing…

In his book How to Have Kick-Ass Ideas, Chris Barez-Brown suggests that letting your mind wander wherever it may go might be the key that opens up your creativity room.

Creativity room? Okay I made that part up, but bear with me. According to Barez-Brown research suggests that we spend more than 50 percent of our time in a "dream-like state where we can access more of our creative genius," which means that all the time I thought I was wasting has actually been spent rather well, right?

This is groundbreaking. And if Barez-Brown is actually right then shouldn't this be something we encourage?

Convincing management that we are in fact being creative and not just "staring at the wall with that gormless look on your face" could be a challenge, but I'll let you know when I figure it out.

Until then, happy daydreaming! I think I'm going to give my window a wash.
