In fact we are excellent with the organisation of the logistics and taking each other into consideration, planning our days in such a manner that everyone pretty much has a vehicle when they need or want it, we do, however, have one snag. The keys.
The number of times we search for keys far exceeds the number of times we open the fridge to see if any of the contents have changed since we last did so.
We do have a key holder and it is in the most intuitive place in the house and yet, this one small thing we cannot get right: walk and place key on keyholder before continuing with the next task.
So the mandatory search having gone reasonably well this morning with the elusive key being found in its second hiding place, my daughter and I have decided that we need to put a big reminder up to try and re-discipline ourselves with the returning of the keys to their out of vehicle home.
And that got me thinking about organisation, how important organisation is in an effective project, office, home etc. And also why it is that one person (like myself and possibly said female kid) can be extremely organised in one aspect of their lives and not in another. And sadly the answer simply boils down to goals and discipline.
I rarely lose anything at work, I rarely misfile or misplace information. So as from today I will make it my goal to approach the car keys in the same manner as my structured and organised office, as I know for a fact I save a lot of time by having this approach to my place of work, so simply extending that thinking to the vehicle keys should be really easy. Discipline challenge on. Wish me luck!
