Seriously, how do you keep cool on a day like this? You can get out the fan but all that seems to do is blow hot air around. You can go for a walk but chances are you'll be sunburnt by the time you get back. Or you can get a subordinate to drip ice-cold water on your shoulders and neck while you work, but we all know that's not going to happen…
So what's left to do?
I guess we can start by being grateful we're not driving around in this heat - just the thought of that hot steering wheel burns my hands - or worse, performing manual labour outside.
I'd probably also feel a bit better if I stopped silently cursing all the lucky, lucky people who work in an air conditioned building, or who didn't have to work today at all.
In way of an answer for "how to beat the heat" I believe the Spanish probably have the best idea.
Introducing the Siesta.
I might start a campaign to have this started in South Africa, who's with me?
