If you’re a team leader you’ve probably already realised the unique talents that each individual brings to your team, and in all likelihood you’ve assigned each team member’s role within the group with the aim of capitalising on those strengths and talents.
This is great, and in reality it’s already half the battle won, but we’re talking about taking a good team and making it great - so assuming we’ve got the right people doing the right jobs, what else can we do to improve team productivity?
1. Work on Improving Team Communication
Teams that are clear on the expectation of communication - within themselves and in terms of feedback - have a higher chance of success. Ensure that your team understands the importance of communicating, the way in which they should communicate and how frequently, and emphasise the importance of everyday communication as well as that of providing feedback.
2. Introduce Your Team to the Enneagram
The Enneagram is arguably the world’s leading self-mastery and personality typing tool, and its value for teams is second to none.
Watch the following video in which a CEO explains how by introducing the Enneagram to his team, his company went on to have their best two years to date.
3. Keep Your Teams Smaller
The value of smaller teams is that there is a better chance you’ll get valuable input from each and every team member, as none are able to simply hide behind the majority of the group, nodding along without really contributing.
This is especially true of the introverts in your team who may not naturally offer their point of view over others. In smaller groups this becomes easier and the input you get tends to be of more value.
