Whilst our declining rand will have much impact on the South African economy, this could be really good news for our potential BRICS investors.
As we are aware, South Africa has been part of the BRICS alliance for a few years now. Surely the time cannot be better than now for potential investments from these countries. Also, the weaker rand makes it more affordable for medium-sized companies to take the plunge.
From the Staff Training perspective, one of the challenges that cross-border organisations have is the challenge to understand the new culture in the country that they are hoping to expand to. South Africa is no exception as a recipient country, if not infinitely more challenging than most. We have a really diverse culture. Marketing to the middle class is very different from marketing to the poor, even though, depending on the product, the poor could be the larger market.
Before potential investors make use of the opportunity to get their foot in the door, it is useful to send your expansion team to our Business Etiquette and Diversity training sessions. We have had a few such delegates join us. What has been interesting is how impressed they are with the “real, on the ground” information that they get from attending our workshops.
In one instance, a delegate who has attended workshops world-wide has made a recommendation to his head office that all staff who are earmarked for transfers must join the Staff Training workshops within the first few weeks of being in the country. His reason? “Highly applicable learning that shows instant results and saves a lot of time and money on trying to guess what needs to be done”.
So right now, if you have been thinking of taking the plunge, we at Staff Training would like to invite you to come and visit our country. Whilst you are here on a “cheaper than normal” ticket, join us and other delegates at our open hosted workshops available in all the bigger cities.
