Winter, And Why I Love It - [website]

Winter’s here, and everybody seems to get all worked up and cranky because of it.
Not me, however, oh no, see I’m in my element as the clouds come rolling over, the thunder and lightning sets the night alight and the torrential rains wash away everything not nailed to the ground.

And I thought that by sharing my reasons for loving this cold, wet and, for some, miserable weather, I could get you to see it in a different light as well.

The way I see it, what could possibly be better than snuggling up by the fire with a really good book, a cup of hot cocoa and your kitty cuddling at your feet?

And don’t get me started on winter food! Which, of course, you can eat plate after plate of without feeling as guilty as you might in summer….

The winter wardrobe is also one I prefer; the fluffy boots, scarves and puffy jackets all putting a swagger in my step that was definitely not there in summer, maybe because unlike summer, where you’re wearing as little as possible trying to keep cool, you can be comfortable, warm and drop dead gorgeous all at once.

There’s not much we can do about the freezing cold mornings or the fact that when we wake up it’s still dark, but at least the cold weather makes our pets stay indoors more and even encourages them to share our beds, adding that little extra (and much needed!) warmth on nights that could really use it.

Everything is just more cosy and homely during the winter months. We scurry about spending as little time as possible outside, eat delicious stews, spend time playing games with the family and wear 15 different layers of clothes at once….

I wouldn’t change winter for the world.
