Every so often you hear a story about someone who makes a success of their situation no matter what new challenges are thrown their way.
Through our involvement with the charity organisation Operation Shoebox we’ve met one such person, who, despite coming from a difficult past (to say the least!), she has managed to find balance in her life and has recently been made deputy head girl at the primary school she attends.
This particular girl touched our hearts as far back as four years ago when she first arrived at one of the Cape Town orphanages we visit and to see how far she has come has really been an inspiration.
We are immensely proud of the young woman she is becoming; not only has she proven herself a worthy leader at school, she also shows a great amount of care and responsibility towards the younger kids in the home. While she does have her difficult days (don’t we all?), she always manages to pick herself up and is never to be seen feeling sorry for herself.
So on this beautiful Friday afternoon I’d like to leave you with this thought:
Why is it that some people are able to achieve success is the most difficult circumstances while others fail where there really is no excuse?
