Today is Black Tuesday
The words on everybody’s lips today are “Black Tuesday,” and multitudes of South Africans are showing their support for the cause by wearing black as well as letting their opinions and feelings be known on sites like Facebook and Twitter.

While today is admittedly a very sad day for South Africans I’m overjoyed at the response this initiative has had – it shows me that we DO care about the state of our country and that we won’t stand idly by and let out voices be buried under a mountain of legislation.

These are some of the thoughts of Twitter users commenting on the proposed Protection of Information Bill:

@Hulisani_R: Surely this #SecrecyBill is a mockery of our democracy? #BlackTuesday

@TallStoriesBook: #Tutu : "Info Bill is an insult." - #BlackTuesday #Censorship

@taylorreinhart: South African government begins media censorship...what is it that they are afraid of? This is NOT how democracy works. #blacktuesday

@AurikSA: In order to grow a business, entrepreneurs need as much info accessible to them as possible! We're in black today. #BlackTuesday

What are your thoughts on the proposed secrecy laws? How would they affect you and South Africa as a whole?
