The seasons they are a-changing and summer’s already hot on our heels, so we at Staff Training thought it would be a good idea to get back into the habit of conserving water...
...for when the heat really starts to kick in!

Saving water is not the chore many people think it is, in fact it takes very little work at all – and the savings are great for both the environment and your pocket.

Water conservation is more an attitude than anything else, and with a simple attitude adjustment we can all contribute to a more water-conscious environment with minimal effort.

Starting with simple things like shorter showers are great, but there are many, many more things you can do to reduce your water consumption around the house and garden, like planting shrubs that use less water, washing your car on the lawn or installing a displacement device in your toilet (as simple using a couple of large stones).

Once you get in the habit of asking yourself: “What is the most efficient way I can use this water?” it actually becomes quite easy to do.

If you’re planning on planting things in your garden, find out what the most water-efficient plants are. Group plants that have similar watering requirements together to avoid over-watering plants that don’t need it.

When rinsing vegetables and fruits at the sink, catch the water and use it for the plants around the house, and when rising dishes (or brushing your teeth) never leave the tap running.

And then of course make sure to teach your kids about water conservation. Make sure they know to turn taps off tightly and are aware of the need to save water.

There are a million ways to save water if you really start to think about it.

In what ways do you conserve water on a daily basis?
