Getting Smart With Goals - [website] Published: 9th of Nov 2011 by: Smart Alec
Goal setting is one of the most important things successful people do regardless of whether they are trying to land a big deal or simply getting through their day.
Without having a clear vision of where you want to be you are more than likely never to end up there, but unfortunately just setting goals is not enough, you need to be smart about how you set your goals and how you go about achieving them.
Staff Training teaches its delegates how to use SMART Goal Setting to increase performance and set out goals in a logical, achievable fashion, thereby enhancing the delegate’s effectiveness and success rate.
SMART goals are set in the following way:
S = Specific. Goals must be clearly laid out; when goals are clear they tell employees exactly what, when, and how things are to be done.
M = Measurable. For a goal to be met it has to be measurable, if it isn’t you will have no idea if you are making progress towards its successful completion.
A = Attainable. When setting goals they need to be realistic as well as achievable. If you set goals that are too high or too low, and are therefore unrealistic, they will be ignored.
R = Relevant. The goals you set need to be an important tool in the reaching of your (or your department’s) vision.
T = Time-bound. Goals need to be given a starting point and an ending point. Without a duration and deadline a goal is nothing more than a dream.
