8 Effective Management Tips - [website]

Whether you’re new to the whole management game or have been in it for years, it never hurts to brush up on your skills (and possibly learn some new ones) and make sure you’re still headed down the right path.
Check out the following management tips from Staff Training and see how many of them you currently put into practice:

1.Don’t focus only on the mistakes your staff make; acknowledge the good they do and give praise where it is due.

2.Set a good example by being accountable and responsible for your actions; admit when you are wrong and apologise when it is necessary.

3.Be an open book. Let your staff know if you’re in a bad mood because the dog ripped your favourite suit and not because of anything they have done.

4.Familiarise yourself with the word “No”, and then start using it. Saying “no” is a big part of being assertive, and being assertive is a big part of being a good manager.

5.Lead by example. Don’t manage with the motto “Do as I say, not as I do”, but rather show your staff what you expect of them through your own actions.

6.Forge positive relationships with your staff by getting to know them. This will make dealing with problems easier as they arise and create a happier environment for your staff to work in. Remember, though, that there is a line that should not be crossed between personnel.

7.Always track your performance, set measurable goals and stick to the deadlines you set.

8.Learn to delegate more – don’t take on more work than you can handle, the results will reflect it.
